Submit to the Search Engines
You can submit to the search engines for free. You need to open an account with Google, Yahoo and MSN to be able to submit sitemaps which are also free of charge. Follow their instructions for sitemaps and this will give you added information on pages viewed and search terms that people search on and other information that is useful to SEO of your site.
Some search engines run off the back of other search engines databases. Therefore, submitting to the main search engines will also cover others.

Directory Listing
The Open Directory Project is the largest, most comprehensive human-edited directory of the Web. It is constructed and maintained by a vast, global community of volunteer editors. It’s important to be listed onto the Open Directory as many search engines do use their database.

and follow the steps on page http://www.dmoz.org/add.html.
Sitemaps
Consider creating and submitting a detailed sitemap of your pages. Sitemaps are an easy way for you to submit all your URLs to the search engines and get detailed reports about the visibility of your page. With sitemaps, you can automatically keep the search engines informed of all of your current pages and any updates you make to those pages. Please note that submitting a sitemap doesn't guarantee that all pages of your site will be crawled or included in our search results.
